Halloween Trees in Pet Society

halloween in pet society

The Pet Society village has turned purple for Halloween. The new look is nice, but the really cool part of this is all the free candy falling from the trees.

Sushi just got himself an eyeball, candy corn, candy cane, and lollipop, which were offered last year. I hope we get the little ghost back too.

Over at the pond, there’s a brand new fish. Supposedly you can get the Halloween Slimy Fish with any kind of food. (Yeah, right!) Have you gotten it? If so, post an image of your pet with the new fish on the Pet Society Anonymous Facebook page, and tell us what you used to catch it. The best pics get published here.

Paw Paw Revolution Dance Arcade

paw paw dance revolution in pet society

My Facebook newsfeed has been flooded by friends’ requests for the Paw Paw Revolution Dance Arcade in Pet Society. This item is obviously a tribute to Dance Dance Revolution (DDR), a late-90s sensation that started in Japan, and is now incorporated as part of physical education programs in West Virginia schools.

The Paw Paw Revolution Dance Arcade costs 26 PCs (too much for me) or 18 clicks from friends. Petsocietyholics who have it report that the machine has blinking lights and starts out slow, and then gets faster, just like the real DDR. It’s also much more interactive than the other retro machines in Pet Society, such as the Fighting Arcade.

Here are two pets getting their groove on. Super cute!

100 Free Coins + Fireworks Machine

fireworks machine in pet society

Pet Society’s Facebook fan page is offering 100 free coins. It’s a scheme to get more people to “Like” Pet Society. I was intrigued by the fireworks machine, but I was only able to get the coins when I clicked on the link. No fireworks. Did I misunderstand Pet Society’s post? It said, “Click on the fireworks machine to start a fantastic firework display! Works again and again!” Doesn’t this sound like we should get the fireworks machine?

Japanese Dresses in Pet Society

Sushi and I love the new Hakama, which was sent by our friend Deedo. The dress is part of a 700-coin package deal at Pet Society’s clothes shop. It comes with a pair of Japanese sandals and a pink butterfly hair clip which animates. The outfit is really quite pretty. It reminds me of my own traditional Korean hanbok dress. I only wish we could keep the cute flowered bag that the outfit came in, but once it was opened, it disappeared.

My pet and I are finally dressing alike!

Hideeni in Pink Pineapple Suit

Hideeni has turned into a giant pineapple! He looks like he should be sipping a fruity drink and singing Copacabana.

This time, he’s giving out 15 different “Moody Fruits.” Starting this Monday, September 13, you can buy a tree to display the fruits. If you manage to collect all of them, you’ll get a pineapple mask for yourself.

How to get the Moody Fruits
New Players: You do not get a fruit when you find Hideeni. You get one when YOUR FRIENDS find Hideeni. Look for a message similar to this on your news feed and click “Claim your gift.”

Retro Arcade Games in Pet Society

That’s right, your pet can now be addicted to Tetris, or “Falling Blocks” as Pet Society is calling it. This arcade game-within-the-game is a limited edition item that will be sold only on Tuesday September 7. The price is steep at 8000 coins. Are you gonna shell out?

I bought the cheaper Fighting Arcade game, which is available all week for 900 coins. When you click on it, the little pets in the screen pounce on each other. It’s kinda cute, I guess.

It’s a little weird to have our imaginary pets become video game addicts, but I guess it’s really no more weird than dressing them up and giving them shaggy wigs.

Burning Man in Pet Society

burning man

Every year before Labor Day, thousands of people gather at Burning Man, a festival in Nevada. They camp in the desert, make art, dance, perform, and pretty much go wild. On the last night of the festival, they burn a large wooden statue of a man.

The Burning Man experience is being recreated in Pet Society by Jacel, who’s been stockpiling festive items and bonfires for months. This is his second “Burning Pet” festival, and he says that he experimented a lot to figure out which objects could be set at different levels on shelves, and which could only be set on the ground. “It’s tricky and inconsistent of what objects can be put in front of or behind others. That can shift when you or another player visits the same scene,” he says.

Thanks to the recently released party feature in Pet Society, the in-game scenes look almost as frantic as the real thing.

It’s a crowded party in the hot desert.

Brief History of Burning Man
Burning Man was started in 1986 by a man named Larry Harvey, who had recently broken up with a girlfriend. To get over his heartache, he built a statue of a man and burned it on a beach in San Francisco with a group of friends. It became a ritual and grew over the years. Now, the festival takes place in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert and attracts over 48,000 people.

Talking Mirror in Pet Society

Sushi, depressed and dirty.

My pet Sushi has been depressed lately. He hasn’t eaten much or changed clothes in weeks. To cheer him up, I did what many parents do: buy expensive sh*t. I plunked down Playfish Cash and bought him the Enchanted Mirror. Like the mirror in Snow White, this one talks back to you.

Sometimes, the mirror compliments you:

Sometimes, it asks questions:

Sometimes, it sounds like a demanding girlfriend:

Sometimes, it tries to sound like Humphrey Bogart:

Sometimes, it tries to interest you in other cash items:

Best of all, it lies to you, when you need it:

Liar.

Overall, we’re not in love with the mirror, but we like that it’s trying to cheer us up.

The First Sting

pet society bees

Bees, it’s nothing personal, but you are kind of scary. You’re cute from afar, but up close, your fuzzy body looks like velcro and your stinger is like a hot knife.

The first time I ever got stung by a bee was when I was 12. I was at a swimming pool, playing Marco Polo with my friends when a bee landed on my finger. Before I knew it, it wedged its weapon into me. It felt like an electric shock… for hours.

The bee itself went to the side of the pool and died. According to Wikipedia, “when a honey bee stings a person, it cannot pull the barbed stinger back out. It leaves behind not only the stinger, but also part of its abdomen, and its digestive tract, plus muscles and nerves. This massive abdominal rupture is what kills the honey bee.” Blecch!

Bees Now Buzzing in Pet Society

Bees are now buzzing around the honey pot trees in Pet Society. I hope they don’t sting!

Note, this is an update from a previous post on honey pot trees.
